Workers’ Compensation Experts To Gather In Florida
For 65 years, dedicated workers’ compensation professionals have met for the annual Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference (“WCEC”). The 66th WCEC, held this year in Orlando, should again prove to be a productive venue for exploring the hottest issues currently circulating in the workers’ comp field, including those concerning New York.
Thousands Expected
The purpose of the WCEC is to provide a forum for study of workers’ compensation, workplace safety and health, and other related issues. It is the largest such gathering in the nation, and draws a diverse range of attendees.
This year’s WCEC celebrates a significant milestone: America’s workers’ compensation system turning 100 years old in 2011. From August 21st to 24th, the Orlando World Marriott Center will host some eight or nine thousand from all fields touching on workers’ compensation law.
Much to Talk About
Special sessions are scheduled for risk managers, health care providers, adjusters, attorneys, paralegals and legal assistants, medical case managers, and mediators. Other key items on the agenda include speeches detailing nation trends in workers’ compensation, a presentation by The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health on cutting edge occupational health issues, a national regulators roundtable, and a breakout course on the workers’ compensation uses of medicine-based evidence.
The Medicare Secondary Payer Act, which precludes Medicare payments for services to the extent that those services have been or are expected to be paid for under workers’ compensation, will also be given attention in a focused session. This piece of legislation is a hot topic that has recently been causing complications in many workers’ compensation and generally liability cases.
Once again, the 2011 WCEC is sure to be a fully comprehensive symposium on the most pertinent and current workers’ compensation topics; ultimately, the WCEC helps ensure a better understanding of workers’ compensation and a smoother-function system for everyone involved.
If you or a loved one has suffered an on-the-job injury, contact an attorney experienced in workers’ comp cases. A skilled attorney will review your case and assess what avenues to legal recourse you have, within and outside the workers’ compensation system.
